International Water Ski Tournament 2025 Arrives at Lake Toba

For the first time ever, Lake Toba will host an international water ski tournament alongside the Governor of North Sumatra Championship, taking place on 6–10 November 2025 at Marianna Resort & Convention, Marclan Collection. Featuring Wakeboard and Wakesurf competitions, this event not only celebrates the spirit of sportsmanship amid breathtaking natural scenery but also marks an important milestone in advancing sport tourism in Lake Toba.

The Spirit of Sportsmanship at the Heart of Lake Toba

More than just a competition, this tournament symbolizes the revival of sportsmanship and collaboration across regions and nations. Organized by KONI North Sumatra with full support from the Provincial Government of North Sumatra, the event highlights the development of young athletes while strengthening the bonds within the sports community. With professional execution and a destination that rivals international venues, Lake Toba holds tremendous potential to become a leading international sport tourism icon — where natural beauty and competitive energy unite in an experience that makes Indonesia proud.

Event Overview

Held over four exciting days from 7–10 November 2025 at Marianna Resort & Convention, the tournament features a series of Wakeboard and Wakesurf competitions — from qualification rounds to the grand final. Each day, Lake Toba sets the stage for athletes from across Indonesia and around the world to showcase their skills and sportsmanship on its shimmering waters.

The event concludes with a closing ceremony on 10 November, marking the end of a celebration that not only highlights athletic achievement but also strengthens Lake Toba’s image as a world-class sport tourism destination.

Positive Tourism and Social Impact

Beyond the competition, this event brings widespread benefits to the Lake Toba community. Economic activity in the tourism sector surges — from accommodation and transportation to local culinary businesses and small enterprises (UMKM) that gain from the influx of visitors.

It also shines a spotlight on Batak culture, introducing its music, cuisine, and warm hospitality to a broader audience. As an international-scale event, it fosters cross-sector collaboration, builds community pride and participation, and reinforces Lake Toba’s potential as a premier destination for sport tourism and global events in the years to come.

Aligned with Indonesia’s National Tourism Priorities

As one of Indonesia’s Super Priority Tourism Destinations (DPSP), Lake Toba continues to make remarkable progress through the hosting of international events. The 2025 water ski tournament stands as a tangible step in realizing the government’s commitment to developing a sustainable, culture-based destination that supports the growth of the creative economy.

More than a sporting event, this tournament embodies the harmony between nature, athleticism, and togetherness. Every splash of water echoes a renewed spirit for Indonesia’s sport tourism. Through the collaboration of athletes, government, communities, and local residents, with the strong support of Marianna Resort & Convention as the host venue, Lake Toba continues to assert itself as a world-class destination — a place where achievement, beauty, and national pride flow together in perfect harmony.
