Samosir, North Sumatra – September 2026 — Thousands of voices are set to gather in the Lake Toba region as the inaugural Samosir International Choir Competition (SICC) 2026 takes place from 24–27 September 2026. The international choir competition forms part of The Caldera Culture Festival (TCCF) 2026, bringing together music, culture, tourism, environmental awareness, and community engagement across Samosir.
Around 2,000 choir participants from various regions are expected to take part in the four-day celebration.
Marianna Resort & Convention Tuktuk Samosir will also become part of the event’s journey, with the SICC preliminary round scheduled to take place at the resort on 25 September 2026.
Samosir Takes the Stage for an International Choir Competition
As the inaugural edition of the competition, SICC 2026 provides a platform for choir singers and vocal soloists to perform and compete across a range of categories.
The competition includes vocal solo and choir categories. Other categories include Musica Sacra, Mixed Choir, and Folksong.
Beyond the competition, participants can join choir workshops, choir clinics, and stage rehearsals. They can also meet members of the jury during the event.
The programme will continue with the Grand Prix rounds, awarding ceremony, and closing programme. Set against the backdrop of Lake Toba, SICC 2026 will bring performers, audiences, and music enthusiasts together in one of Indonesia’s distinctive cultural destinations.
Marianna Resort & Convention Becomes Part of the Competition
Marianna Resort & Convention Tuktuk Samosir, one of Marclan International’s destinations in the Lake Toba region, will host the preliminary round of the Samosir International Choir Competition on 25 September 2026. The competition programme at the venue will continue through 26 September, with activities including competition sessions, choir workshops, Meet the Jury, and the Grand Final round.

As performers and guests gather for the competition, the resort becomes one of the stages connecting the international choir community with the culture and landscape of the Lake Toba region.
Samosir International Choir Competition is More Than a Competition
SICC 2026 forms part of The Caldera Culture Festival 2026, which carries the theme “Gema Tanah Toba: Dari Tanah Toba, Menyatukan Ragam Suara dan Budaya” (“Echoes of Toba Land: From the Land of Toba, Uniting Diverse Voices and Cultures”).
The festival brings together artistic performances, cultural activities, tourism initiatives, local economic participation, and environmental programmes.
The opening programme on 24 September will take place around Waterfront Pangururan and Sektor 5 Pangururan. The programme will feature Batak cultural performances, a large-scale choir performance, a local MSME marketplace, and community entertainment.
The festival will close on 27 September, which also marks World Tourism Day. The closing programme will include the announcement of the competition winners and a large-scale performance of “O Tano Batak”.
Around 2,000 voices will come together for the performance, creating a fitting finale for the four-day celebration.

With the preliminary round taking place at Marianna Resort & Convention Tuktuk Samosir on 25 September, the event will also bring an international cultural programme to one of Marclan International’s destinations in the Lake Toba region.
